The carrier bag scheme is definitely the best scheme the Welsh Government has brought in. Plastic bags are a huge waste problem, not just here in Wales, but alson out at sea. Now we need an extra local sales tax on drinks sold in plastic bottles, take away meals and all snacks sold in wrappers, bags and the like which together litter our countryside and towns. The money raised could help pay for the daily clean up operation that councils have to pay for and could help encourage people to eat and drink more healthily.

    hear. hear.

The council should also pay a levy for every visit by a local to their out of town recycling plants that should be roughly the same cost as the petrol paid by the consumer from the greyhound pub roundabout to the centre next door to the kelloggs factory.

The Council is elected…..therefore it is democratic.

Whoever was in office would make cut backs. The key is to try and find an optimal way forward

the survey’s aim is to co-erce the locals down a particular route. To accept rather than challenge the findings of the counciland therefore accept where the cuts will be.

So if u catch someone trying to torch your car/house your just supposed to let em get on with it?
I think what the main issue is that people commiting these offenses know they can get away with it and not afraid of the law or what will happen when they get caught doing it.
Lets be honest here, if its some 14 year old kid or minor commiting these offenses what will happen to them? It’s not like they are going to get locked up.
My last post was an example, I not stupid enough to give someone a hiding or show my face as I would get targeted every day/night for life.
I feel really sorry for the lady and family this has happened too, it’s gone too far now and I reckon there is more to come.

Have police or anyone said how these cars are being set alight? Surely something substantive would have to be used?
The substance on my car smelt like BBQ lighter gel.

Best to just restrain them and wait for the police… totally okay with fantasizing about them being beaten up, but actual violence for anybody, once exercised, is a jack that is difficult to put back in box.

It’s terrible what has happened, something needs to be done today to protect the residents.

What a pain Michelle, must be so frustrating!!!
When my cars where done (along with whole street) the police refused to come as said there nothing they could do. Eventually they turned up but hours after the incident.
These people doing this are getting away with it and must be getting a kick out it.

If I/we caught someone doing it and gave em what for I/we would get put behind bars for gbh. The law is so wrong at the moment.

..And quite rightly that anyone who gave ‘what for’ should go behind bars. Think it’s perfectly right to fantasise about giving a thief a beating, but there is always a risk that it could escalate and really it’s not mentally healthy for the person giving “what for” either..

The law isn’t wrong, the lack of protection being given to victims and potential victims is.

very sad to hear about the victim.

impossible to say where the arsonists are from, but the majority of the victims are from caia park.

The police have failed to get a grip on this and are not protecting the residents of caia park. To be frank, whoever is responsible for policing at caia park is a failure.

The survey is absolute gibberish and without definitions. It’s tantamount to “newspeak” like in Orwell’s 1984.

That is not democracy, it’s only aim is to passively pursuade the locals to agree with what the council has already decided.

The councillors involved should resign out of shame. They are not being democratic.

shouldn’t the election be suspended until the results of the two government inquiries into north wales child abuse?

If it does go ahead, surely one of the most important issues is each candidate’s position on the Childrens’ homes scandal?

Do they think the pulped report should now be published?

were any of them a police officer at the time at north wales police? And more importantly were any of them a police office and in a police station when a victim came forward to make a complaint?

what are they going to do to help the government inquiry?

    etc.

The Council used to sell off old PC’s etc about 15 years ago, but to be honest they were not worth having as they were out of date and often ill-treated. Also, the prices weren’t exactly competitive! NJones is correct; the surplus stock is either refurbished and sent to schools, or stripped for spares.

I think the Ipads will be grossly underused as most Councillors are completely hopelss with IT. If the main usage is going to be for sending/receiving emails, viewing agendas and catching up with the news, then there are cheaper alternatives out there.

Also, the rest of the council uses the Microsoft Office suite and as far as I know Ipads don’t (although I know documents can be converted) so it would have made sense to have machines that are compatible.

There is absolutely no reason to use microsoft office anymore… Openoffice is more than adequate and free. 180 per computer next time…. waste of money.
