Single Integrated Plan – Is It ‘Incredibly Readable’ ? | Wrexham.com

Further to that article which refers to the document starting at about page 6 of this PDF – https://www.wrexham.com/goto/https://www.wrexham.gov.uk/MinutesData/ExBoard/Reports/clf1712.pdf

What do you make of it?

the agenda item – 100% bureaucratic speak

the actual plan – 100% marketing speak

it’s like ‘recycle with michael’ – all superficial.

The council usually take on seasonal staff during the busy grass cutting season, but this year they don’t seem to have bothered.

waste of good compost that, never mind good potting soil if dropped in a worm farm.

this council has caused 1,000s of extra CO2 tonnes already by their bin fortnightly system that has created extra car trips to their out of town ‘recycling’ plant.

Well the stansty bridge is now closed and because of the high rain on the first morning the town has been chaos.

Rhosddu road was blocked and I would say what an utter disaster to the start of the ‘trial’ and what a complete nightmare this is going to be. We were extremely busy but were running late as our cars could not get around due to the amount of traffic caused by the road closure.

The more people complain the more likely that this road will get back to normal.

Surely the best idea would be a walkway over the bridge to keep the traffic flowing.

Has anyone else experienced any problems so far?

Sadly, people don’t use overhead walkways when steps are involved.

The guy who agreed to the test should be sacked, because of the amount of losses to local business.

The problem can’t be fixed without huge amounts of investment.

possibly the cheapest option is new bridge and slightly different railway line route using part of the remploy land… and that’s not cheap either.

and a small thing that will help to get rid of the costs of cronyism… limit councillors to only two terms.

I work for the council – don’t have a parking space, neither do my colleagues. Not sure what the one contributor means by luxuries: a wage that has been frozen for three years perhaps. I am not complaining, but do find people who spout opinions with checking their facts first rather tedious!!
Half the council’s buildings are mothballed – drive down Grosvenor Road, look upstairs above BHS, check out Roxburgh House. there is no demand for commercial property in wrexham.

Ideas for saving money – make all schools direct grant and scrap the LEAs. private schools manage without the equivalent well-paid bureaucracy, so what do the LEAs really do for our schools and our children. Perhaps they could tell us!!

When I mean mothballed, I also mean the new council offices next to the guild hall (or the guild hall itself – council meetings could be in the memorial hall) plus the people’s market except for the car park, moving the businesses either into the bus station or one of the other markets. I agree there is too much commercial space in wrexham, that is the councillors & their planners fault for giving permission and creating a shopping space bubble. A good example of wastage was considering all the buildings the council had empty, they still hired out the old kwik save for the library.

I can think of three car parks in town that has space reserved for council staff or councillors… memorial hall/swimming baths, the guild hall/new council offices and peoples’ market car parks. So somebody whether council workers or councillors is getting space.

half the councillors’ wage bill & expenses budget. If they want more.. tough.

mothball, sell or rent out half of the council buildings… same staff just less buildings & electricity.

no new capital investment of any road or building for the next five years e.g. no more re-rebuilding of high street.

    Proper green initiatives. ..
only council employees & councillors that live more than two miles away from their building get a car parking space. They should all be car sharing or walking.

No matter what experience you have, the majority of start-ups do fail. The thing is, the reward for the successful ventures far outweigh the failures. Persistence and staying positive are key.

Having the best product and the lowest price will not in itself lead to success either.

What I’ve learnt in business so far is that marketing is critical to success as part of a successful business system. It’s a massive change of mindset from working for someone else.

have you got any evidence to back this up.

    e.g.
what about those who retire? are they included in your figures?
what about those who get offered a more lucrative job? are they included in your figures?
what about those who move from being a sole trader to a partnership to a ltd company and vice versa? are they included in your figures?
what about those who move their business out of the country for tax reasons, but then get paid a wage/dividend from that business and are then taxed in this country at a lower rate because of this? are they included in your figures?

interesting stuff, can’t really comment on your marketing as i don’t know what kind of customer you are aiming at ..

However, I’ve done telesales, PRing and face to face promotions for companies from amstel beer to yates austrialian wine and the easiest way to strike a rapport is to ask questions about them. People love to talk about themselves and you’re lucky because they give cues in what they wearing, what shopping they are holding or who they are with…

The most important thing is gaining rapport is the easiest, just smile.

well done for you starting up a business… I’ve been doing it off and on for over 20 years now and my advice is just be happy, optimistic, make sure your glass is always half full and believe everyone out there wants to help you.
