Can we all assume that the Wrexham Trust will be made up of the same Councilors who are failing our town at the moment. As a regular at Wrexham Library no one has asked me what I think or if I would like to be a Trust member, non of the staff have a clue what is going on (appalling staff management). You cannot run a community Trust without the community being involved.
Equally I have a number of friends in the arts community in Wrexham and non of them have been asked to be a part of any development or for their assistance.
Please can Clr Wynn list who is being consulted as it certainly appears it is not the Community who will be asked to foot the bill in the future or be part of a Management Group.
Sorry Clr Wynn I don’t think you have got the measure of the Lead Member yet and the manipulations that go on behind closed doors.
Personally if you don’t get the measure of Lead Members and their officers you would struggle in Westminster as the behind closed door activity is even greater. If he is now delaying until May what is it he is researching, who is advising and how much are we all paying again for consultants. Lets see if you will ask the questions now before the report is even written– when will the report go to Scrutiny or will it go straight to Executive Board!!
    You are being strung along..

Peter – Councillor/Officer membership of any Trust cannot exceeded 20% so if a board is made up of 10 individuals then 8 of them will be selected via the relevant selection process.

The report is due to be presented to the Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee, probably the day before it goes to the Executive Board. Dates are not known as yet.

    Your advice has been noted.

Call me a trusting soul but I’m prepared to wait for the right information to come forward in May, rather it be rushed through in April.

    Dear Mr. Wynn,

Could you answer the following questions please?

Why did the Liberal Democrats boot you out of the party on WCBC?

What was your relationship with Geoff Moss when he nearly killed Wrexham FC and refused to pay their bills?

What was your involvement in the Alan Bermingham bid for Wrexham FC?

Why did you support Stephanie Booth in her bid for Wrexham FC while her businesses were on the brink of going bust knowing that it would gazump the bid from the Wrexham Supporters’ Trust?

Why did you say that the Wrexham Supporters’ Trust would kill the club?

I look forward to your answers.

More than happy to answer your questions.

I was never booted out of the Lib Dems as you have insinuated. I chose to cancel my membership of the party Having become switched off by national political parties. I continued as a member of the ruling Lib Dem/independent group to ensure political stability at the Guldhall and to guarantee Cllr Joan Lowe’s position as a Lead Member. As soon as it was clear that Cllr Lowe was leaving the Lib Dem group my obligation was broken, freeing me to become a non-alligned member.

My relationship with Geoff Moss has always been cordial, especially during 2011 when he announced he wanted out. It should not be forgotten that he owns the land to the rear of the Kop; As such he needs to be kept on side if we are to secure a new Kop, which may otherwise become land-locked.Some fans may still wish to continue their private agendas against the man but cutting off your nose ….comes to mind.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Alan Bermingham the once, at a home game in the Bamford suite. It was in full view of a number of the WST board members, so no cloak and dagger story for you to worry about.

For the record my discussions with Stephanie Booth were always relaid back to the then chair of the WST. Having placed her on the spot to come up with £50k, to help bank-roll the club, along with a few other businessmen/fans I wished her well with her continued discussions with the WST and walked away from further dialogue. The rest is history and my instinct was proven right.

I should of rumbled her sooner, as at the meeting she convened at the Bryn Howel, they didn’t even have a straw for my friend Len Willett to use. Cash-flow issues I guess.

If I did say the WST will kill off my Club then I ought to of made myself better understood The WST is a legal entity made up of its members, who are all fans, so it would be counter intuitive for what I said to be taken literally. I am willing to apologise for any offence I may have caused but please accept I was under immense pressure at the time, as the future of our club looked like it was fading away.

For me the real threat to our Club’s future at the time, which your quote truly refers to, was the attitude of the then parachuted in Chairman, whom to my knowledge was never voted in by the members. His arrogance was there to be seen and he didn’t hang around too long. I wonder why? Maybe you could share your own thoughts on this.

For me his attitude on the Bond Day was one of gleeful anticipation of failure. How wrong could he be. On the day he even refused to put a couple of quid in the bucket collection. On the eve of the Bond Day I asked if he would personally endorse the last throw of the dice to see our club saved. His response was his money was committed to the Escrew Account.

I haven’t missed too many games since that day. I wonder if Richard Green can say the same.

I hope this has put your mind at rest. If you’re a retired Jimmy then I guess nothing will.

The Lead Member had originally stated his intention to bring a report back to the Executive Board in March but subsequently announced the report would be put back until April.

At last weeks WCBC’s Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee it was announced that the report will now be presented in May.

I am hopeful the time delay is a positive indication that the Wrexham Trust option is being formulated for approval by the Executive Board.

With the need to deliver £45m of cuts to our budget over the next three years it is clear certain non-statutory services will stop unless we can find a different delivery model.

Consultation on the future of the sound studio at the Vic is a prime example, as is the provision of dual leisure facilities at school sites.

From personal experience it’s the drafting of business plans, the holding of director meetings, financial accounting, grant applications etc which can prove the daunting challenge. However if the support network can be put in place asap then there is every hope new entities will flourish.

The community fund-raiser went as well as we could of hoped, considering we decided to run the event less than a fortnight ago.

In total we raised £212 during the morning towards the project cost.

I would like to extend a warm thank-you to those who gave their time to put on the event, those who donated prizes for the raffle and for those residents who turned up to show their support.

Our next fund-raiser is a bingo session on Wednesday the 25th of March, at Poyser St Chuch Hall. Starts 7pm if you can make it along. The evening is being put on by the Friends of Bellevue Park.

Donations have also been made by the Bellevue Play Group, the Pensioner Club, Bellevue Ladies Club and the Management Committee for Bellevue Park Community Centre.

All in all a good team effort.

Fingers-crossed the community buy-in displayed will convince the WREN grant panel that the scheme is worthy of their support.

A decision will hopefully be known circa November.

Why is the toddlers play area going to be condemned?

Taffy….the play equipment has been well used since it was installed nearly fifteen years ago, so its now showing its age. There are parts to the climbing frame which have been removed and others which due to corrosion will result in the equipment being taken away.

In anticipation of this happening myself as the ward member, Offa Community Council and WCBC’s play area officer have been working up a £50,000 grant bid to WREN.

I have already replied to wrexham.com who are putting on a video interview for all candidates, if they wish to partake. My understanding is we all be asked the same set of questions on video.

The new digital age provides no hiding place for candidates so for those who are connected then there is hopefully no excuses about voting in ignorance.

I’m not IT savy but I’ve been busy this evening setting up my own email domain name and Facebook campaign page. Hopefully this shows willingness on my part to engage with the voter.

I believe some old-fashioned hustlings are being put on in Wrexham,so that promises to be another new life experience for me.

    Many thanks for your question.

this outlines that Council Members are having 26% of their salery/allowances paid into a Pension Fund paid for by Ratepayers! Councilors have to pay 6%
How many thread contributors have anywhere near this level paid into their pension fund by their employer?
Why should Ratepayers pay so much, this is daylight robbery of Public Sector funding.

Carol – when elected back in 2008 as the County Councillor for the Bynyffynnon ward I saw my monthly salary as an allowance to make good the loss of earnings from my private sector job. I thought it wrong then as I do now to benefit from the significant rate-payer paid pension contribution, as my position as a CC is in my eyes meant to be a vocation and not a profession.

As such I am one of the non-members of the Council’s pension scheme.

That said since losing my private sector job back in April 2012 I have considered taking advantage of the pension scheme, if only for the death-in-service benefits but for reason given I have resisted joining.

For an informed debate those members in the pension scheme do make a private contribution each month.

There is a wider debate as to whether all politicians at any level ought to reflect on whether they are carrying out a vocation and not a profession and as such should by statute remove themselves as beneficiaries of a very generous pension rights, under-written by you the tax-payer.

This was discussed at the Bellevue Park Residents Group meeting on Thursday and the consensus view was to go with WCBC’s trial one-way system [from the traffic-lights in the direction of Penybryn], whilst retaining parking spaces on both sides of the road.

Losing any parking spaces will only lead to more commuters parking their vehicles in the side streets in the area.

The trial was meant to start at the end of February but because of recent road-works on Ruabon Rd the start date has been put back until the end of April.

If the trial works then it will be made permanent but if it creates greater problems elsewhere on the local road-network then we will have to go back to the drawing-board.

Many thanks for the positive dialogue.

The Lead Member has provided assurances that he will bring a report back in April which will look at the costs/risk assessment of the various options, including a newly formed Wrexham Trust and make his recommendations accordingly.

The challenge now for me is all about starting a wider public debate, so as to ascertain if there is an appetite for a Wrexham Trust and if so who has the time and the necessary skill set to serve as a Trustee.

    Open to suggestions.
