They could make that revenue back from the Guildhall and Crown Buildings car parks but choose not to.

They could park on the Guildhall green

So what happened to Difficult Decisions?

    7) Staff and Member Car Parking
The Council currently provides free parking to some of its staff and to Elected Members in town centre car parks. It is proposed to remove this entitlement to encourage more sustainable modes of travel to work (e.g. public transport) and to generate additional income, as some may still choose to pay for parking in Council owned car parks.
It is estimated that this could generate additional income of approximately £49,000 in 2018/19.

—— Plans are also afoot to introduce charging for elected members and council staff, though that would be considered an internal matter and therefore no wider consultation is needed to implement them ——–

The Council would rather charge Blue Badge holders and generate £25k of income, rather than pay themselves for parking and generate as you say £100k.
Early in this post jimbow wrote about the 99 spaces at Crown bringing in £52k per year based on 80 filled but if the whole 99 who get freebies paid it would fetch in over £64k Monday to Friday just from the special essential staff members.

Does anyone know how many “TOP MANAGERS” get free Guildhall parking because if 50 of them went and paid at the People’s Market that would be an extra £32.5k and then there would be a lot of money made from using the Guildhall as short stay because it is the most convenient one for shops and the Monday market (as a Councillor!)

So maybe we save the Council over £100k a year? Just my back of a fag pack maths. And that is before anyone charges the Councillors.
It appears that Wrexham Council are the last in the country to recognise that Markets are finished. Markets used to offer good value for money – now we have other markets of which the traditional markets cannot compete. What markets ? Poundland, 99p shop, Pound World and Primark. £4.5 million wasted, a millstone around the neck of council tax payers for many years. We must vote the councillors out – the lot of them, they are all complicit in this costly, undemocratic shambles. It is pointless to say that we should boycott TyPawb, its uselessness and unpopularity will achieve this aim without any conscious decisions from the normal People. Prospective stall holders beware !
The alternative is to close the market and have another art gallery there because everyone loves them!
I think you’ll find that Kingdom make a tidy profit for themselves and the council get about 11% out of the fines levied.

I wonder what they charge when a zombie does a poo in the street?
I am a dog owner, and think the fine for not picking up could be £1000, the problem is enforcing it. Many will walk the dog after 21.00 hrs and before work , so from 06.00 hrs, Is it being proposed to have dog wardens working longer hours that PCSO’s. Thinking about it , this is a role that PCSO’s could perhaps enforce, they do very little else of value.
You are stating the same problem that happens with the late night drinkers who leave the remains of their take-aways all over town. This isn’t enforced as it is either unsociable hours or, more likely, too hard to enforce.

Back with dog owners, don’t forget to mention the numpties who bag the cr@p and then leave it by the road or hang it from a branch happy that they have done their bit …

If the Councillors and top management were moved to the staff car par at crown buildings or to the White Elephant Art Centre and their car park was a pay and display, how much could be saved?
Councillor X. There are 99 car parking spaces in the Crown Buildings car park. If only 80 of those were utilised at £2.50 per all day by Council staff, would bring in £52k per year.

Such a pity nobody had the capacity to throw Crown Buildings into the equation if this is the case.

If I can look at this another way and I know I will get called a wind up merchant AGAIN for this BUT if SOME Council Staff get FREE parking at locations such as Crown, Ruthin Road, Grosvenor Road and the Industrial Estate, why shouldn’t EVERY staff member get free parking?
To take it off Top Managers and Councillors when others get it for nothing is wrong.

You either make EVERYONE pay or NOBODY pay if you want true equality.

Do women still get free proximity parking at the Council?

Councillor X. I see no problem in Council staff getting free parking at locations such as Industrial Estate or Ruthin Road. Offer these locations to top managers and let them use the bus from there, no problem. The problem is the town centre parking charges. The Council choose to charge everybody in the town centre, so everybody pays, no problem. If the Council decide to make free parking Jan to Nov as they do for December then ok. Think of the savings of enforcement officers, machines being vandalised, staff uniforms, pension contributions etc, etc. hey ho.
PS Do you think that if the Mayor has a free car all Councillors should have one?
Its only a Skoda and he isn’t allowed to take it home and neither does the chauffer …

Perhaps the chauffer could pick up all of the Councillors and bring them to meetings then there won’t be a parking problem.
