oldboy744ParticipantPersonally i think it looks good and it can only assist businneses. My issue with king street is that there are no businesses there that attract me, as a shopper. I have sympathy for alunh as i spent a good part of my youth in his excellent record shop but now its mainly estate agents and take-aways. With Eagles Meadow effectively removing the town centre as we all knew it, king street seems even further detached and suffers from a lack of footfall. My hope is that king street will attract independent retailers but as the majority of the buildings are privately owned, i suppose the question is are the landlords of these empty properties doing enough to encourage re-occupation, after all, they will be paying a huge amount of commercial rates on these empty units. King street has no real identity. With its proximity to the college, and obviously the bus station, i would expect to see some decent cafe’s and independant retailers (similar to Phase One), in the future. Final point: the commercial rates on king street are so prohibitive…businesses really need to do their homework before setting up there.
oldboy744ParticipantI’m pretty sure that they will replace for free if it’s been eaten by lorry. Ring them on 298989 to double check.

Had better things to do than read this for a couple of days and it is so boring! Nothing exciting happening?
What were you expecting; the bones of Owain Glyndwr discovered under the Turf car park? This is the Wrexham forum you know, not Heat magazine. Is it just that you like seeing how many people have viewed your thread?

Well, I come under that category. Does that mean I’m not welcome in the town ?
I was merely stating a fact. The people i described were not local judging by their accent so these people are not welcome. Everone else is more than welcome providing they are respectful of the town and the people. the same applies to local people as well, of course.
oldboy744ParticipantThey are British but not from Wrexham judging by their accents. I’ve noticed them by Nero quite a lot and using the seats in queens square. Not trying to paint the town in negative light and it has far more good than bad, but I have noticed an increase.
oldboy744ParticipantHi everyone on Wxm.com. Been registered for a while but never felt need to post until now. Big congratulations to Wrexham FC. Been a fan for many years and thought they completely bossed the game and should have won it in normal time. Grimsby were obviously playing for penalties in the 2nd half and Wrexham maintained their professionalism to win. So pleased for all the fans who made the journey (alas, I did not) and wish them a safe (though not sober) return home.

That’s odd as I know a child of a council employee who has ex-council computers in his house….
The Council used to sell off old PC’s etc about 15 years ago, but to be honest they were not worth having as they were out of date and often ill-treated. Also, the prices weren’t exactly competitive! NJones is correct; the surplus stock is either refurbished and sent to schools, or stripped for spares.
I think the Ipads will be grossly underused as most Councillors are completely hopelss with IT. If the main usage is going to be for sending/receiving emails, viewing agendas and catching up with the news, then there are cheaper alternatives out there.
Also, the rest of the council uses the Microsoft Office suite and as far as I know Ipads don’t (although I know documents can be converted) so it would have made sense to have machines that are compatible.
