[quote quote=100034]I urge people to read the twenty-eight page document on the proposes cuts. Pages 9-10 covers cuts to Adult Social Care, and includes £30,000 cut to Physical and Sensory impairment equipment , £50,000 saving in the Telecare Service ( literally a life line for some ), and £50,000 from Welfare Rights where they suggest “charge individuals where benefit gains are successful.” !

Page 19 Suggests charging Blue Badge Holders for parking in Council car parks. The Council points out in its defence “because Blue Badges are not means tested there is no assumption that they are unable to afford to pay for parking.” The Council see this as raising £40,000 per year. Council Officers and Councillors have free parking in the nearest car park to the town centre and the public no doubt assume they can afford to pay for their parking too!

Opening up the Guildhall and Crown Buildings Car Parks to the public seven days a week would easily generate enough income to cover some of the above cuts.

Charge people for their benefit gains? Good luck in enforcing this little gem?

And of course, we all know how helpfull and knowledgeable they will be, especially around any re election. God help anyone who needs advice in a few months, especially, for example, people who get an unexpected financial crisis, which can happen even to the most organised amongst us. Who you gonna call ?
