The reason the car parks are free now when next to nothing is open is probably because so few cars are using them that it would cost more in revenue to pay someone to patrol the car parks and collect the change/maintain the ticket machines than they would collect in parking charges.

Especially when nobody would be prepared to pay any charges whatsoever, so the car parks would be even emptier again.

Makes more sense to open up the car park to the community free of charge and therefore provide a civic benefit than make life more difficult during times of Crisis.

Thing is it’s sad that people flock back to McDonald’s the SECOND it re-opens. There’s a lot of parental responsibility in terms of rushing the kids down there this time, my kids don’t have a clue that it’s re-opened, so the whole closure has broken any pester power they once exhibited about Happy Meals from seeing countless adverts everywhere.

So surely the average kid in Wrexham doesn’t know McDonald’s has re-opened unless they are some kind of news reading boffin.

The usual USP option that it’s a quick and easy meal to take the family out for is negated by the fact that you are having to queue for ages to get it. There are many other takeaways in Wrexham including restaurant quality food that can be delivered directly to your door at not much difference in cost.

My only conclusion is that segments of the general public as a whole of all ages suffer some kind of irrational appeal.

I doubt the major supermarkets are going to move from their provenance of sourcing British and Irish produce for fresh meat – it would make no sense to break the trust and confidence of consumers for the sake of a savings.

Although what a ludicrous world we live in if it costs less to bring to the consumers meat that’s been pumped full of costly pharmaceuticals (anyone seen what they charge at the vets even over here), frozen and then travelled 3,000 miles+ then processed in disguise over here and packaged for the supermarkets. When you can just get meat from a national / local farm and have it distributed a far less distance.

Lilly at what point have I said anything about myself personally breaking the law? This was in a post before the new laws had even been announced so I was wondering how things would work as I said I was currently allowed to visit Wrexham, which is more than 5 miles to go shopping but would not be permitted to visit my family the same distance away. I was pointing out the absurdity of the law and suspected that it would be widespread being flouted.

Then pointed out that a workaround solution would be to meet people in a middle meeting point.

I’m not sure what this has to do with travellers or your ongoing argument with Everhard as I’ve not been involved in either.

I’ll debate with you all you like on whatever matter and we may agree or disagree on things. However, going around insinuating I am breaking the law is poor form in my opinion.

Now that this entire debacle has happened and lockdown is effectively ended in both Scotland and England, will be interesting to see what Drakeford has to say in regards to Wales.

There are rumours that a 5 mile travel limit may be imposed on visiting relatives.

Welsh Conservatives slam ‘arbitrary’ five mile lockdown rule in Wales

However, this is potentially going to be comprehensively rejected and ignored as a large number of people within the county (myself included) already have to travel over 5 miles just to get to Wrexham, which is where a number of relatives live.

Seems like stupidity as effectively I’ll be able to legitimately travel for food to Chirk McDonald’s when it re-opens and then nip over to England and meet people anywhere in England.

Or will we all have to get our maps out and find points of intersection less than 5 miles away from our homes to meet up.

So Boris Johnson’s assertions that Cummings had done no wrongdoing was incorrect. The important thing is the wording Durham Constabulary have used now effectively closes the “I was doing as Dominic Cummings does in lockdown” enforcement loophole people have been using the past few days to do whatever they please.

Had he been caught the police would have been able to stop him and enforce current rules.

Pigeons getting a dissing locally as they don’t have the clout. They are still sore about their weak rep all these years after never being invited onto the the set of Hitchcock’s The Birds, which mostly consisted of crows, ravens, sparrows and seagulls.

I guess this kind of proves that with the absence of any real evidence (CCTV) these types of crimes are very hard to prosecute. Swathes of people will just descend with their theory on whodunnit.

I blame seagulls, they’re getting pretty menacing these days.

So Wrexham MP Atherton has just held a “regular surgery” which literally nobody knows when it is held and there’s no details on her website as well. It also coincidentally provided a nice photo opportunity.

    https://twitter.com/AthertonNWales/status/1265342724317863936?s=19

The reply section to this tweet is inundated with local people and press who wanted to ask her view on Dominic Cummings and have emailed or phoned and received no reply.

So if she is holding surgeries, who the hell is she talking to? Plus surely not responding to constituents via email or written is a complete failure of her MP duties.

I tell you who would have been all over this Dominic Cummings fiasco – Ian Lucas. He was trying to call the man to account for months for various indiscretions. Like him or not for his Brexit stance he would have taken direct action on this and through his influence rallied up more noise about the issue to both Labour Leadership and to other local Welsh MPs. Sadly a lot of Labour, including Sir Keir have been very muted during this whole issue.

So yes, criticism played here against local Tory MP (and the invisible Mr Baynes) but also against a lot in the Labour camp.

There are more and more revelations coming out – this story isn’t going to bed yet and just how many Labour MPs shot themselves in the foot for ignoring constituents on Brexit, lots of Tory MPs who took their place are failing to satisfy constituents who want answers and relevant representation on this issue. Politicians will never learn and are a pigheaded selfish breed.
