dewi73ParticipantWhat a ridiculous waste of money, £275,000 to introduce speed cameras and potentially £30 million introducing air barriers!
The Welsh Assembly are trying to avoid a fine imposed by the EU for not doing enough to combat air quality and this fine would still be payable post Brexit.
I would like to see the results of the research on the NO2 trial published before any money is spent as I think it could be used far more wiselySeptember 25, 2018 at 2:02 pm in reply to: "Give your feedback on plans to place average speed cameras on Wrexham bypass" #156393
dewi73ParticipantHave the nitrogen dioxide levels improved since the start of the trial? Where were the results published?
dewi73ParticipantI will continue to do 70mph until speed cameras are put in place, two fingers up to the Welsh Government and their useless attempt to help lower pollution levels
dewi73Participant
Being serious for a mo, we are only talking about construction jobs here. There will be many opportunities for Wrexham people to gain longer term employment when the construction is finished.
‘Only’ construction jobs? One of the best arguments for building the prison was so that local companies could try and get a share of the £250M on offer.

Suggested that name a long long time ago, I’m claiming the rights!
dewi73ParticipantWhy doesn’t Asda just put bulbs in the belisha beacons they currently have in place? There purpose is to provide additional visibility to Zebra crossings, do they think I can’t drive?
I hate speed bumps with a passion, now going to shop at Tesco.July 22, 2015 at 7:53 pm in reply to: Wales to introduce a minimum cost for a unit of alcohol. #97492
dewi73ParticipantI’ll be picking up my booze whilst I’m out and about over the border, might as well get my shopping at the same time.

As the use and usability of technology rises, public sector roles in many areas will diminish. If you can complete forms make payments and access information online the need for staffed offices is less. As Alun stated we have to move away from a dependence on the public sector for employment. 75% of those who work in Wales work for the public sector, we are all working and paying taxes to fund our own positions. This leaves nothing for health, education and infrastructure. We are still at the cusp of the technological revolution with more traditional roles being taken by online services. As with those who survived the Industrial Revolution if we are to prosper we have to move with the innovation. I feel that the political class in Wales is due the lion share of the blame for the stagnation of innovation, they have stuck with the old fashioned ways of over stuffing the public sector as it is an easy (and lazy) way to win votes. There needs to be more done to encourage private business and enterprise in Wales, to change a culture of reliance on one area for economic security. But I fear that in the run up to the election the old ways will remain, keeping their political positions is far more important to them than what Wales actually needs.
75% of those who work in Wales work in the public sector?? Do you make these figures up as you go Mrs Crewe?
The true figure is circa 27%

I don’t think you are a dingbat, again only going by my own experience of living in a city (Winchester) with a large category A prison, lots of the staff working there lived in and around Winchester.
It’s not like being police officer who used to be advised not to live in the same town in which they worked. I think a lot of people are having a real knee jerk reaction to the thought of having a prison here and typically only seeing the negative.HMP Winchester is a small category B prison with a population of 544, tiny in comparison to the Super prison ;)
