DavidBParticipantJust for clarity about population density the uk has 280.6 people PER sq. mile and NZ has 18 PER sq. mile.
DavidBParticipantFor general information for all, I have received a reply from Tesco Customer Services that states that it is mandatory for staff in customer facing roles to wear face masks, unless exempt for designated medical reasons. Let’s all be careful out there and try to cut down the spread of this new Covid variant.
DavidBParticipantThanks for the reply Matt. I went to Tesco at 7 AM to get out of a crowded time. The shop had very few customers at that time, mainly staff filling delivery trolleys. I did not dwell in store any longer than required and could not complain immediately as the service desk does not open until 8AM. I have contacted them by email and am waiting for a reply as to there policy on mask wearing. I will update on any useful information.
DavidBParticipantI’ve been with PlusNet for many years. They are a good company. I have had excellent service from them, and pretty good speeds, 13Mb/s in Rhosddu, on ADSL2.
They were bought by BT many years ago, but run as a separate company based in Sheffield. They appear to give better service generally than BT from what people tell me (i.e BT clients) but are somewhat hogtied by the lethargy in BT/Openreach for carrying out rewiring and fault repair etc. when it is localised/onsite.
DavidBParticipantMy sentiments are with a couple of other contributors yesterday,”The Monitor” and “johnhoppy” when they stated that there should be no Party Politics in local government, even “newly formed” groups. Why can’t the councillors all be independent minded, stick to representing the views of their ward, and make judgements and decisions themselves instead of the “herding instinct” of any group. Judge each topic under consideration on its merits and vote individually and truly independently !
DavidBParticipantOne thing I think they are doing wrong on the proposed plans is the addition of a right turn +lights at the “rough hill ” junction. Surely it would be better to direct this “side road” to access the new Pulford “lights ” junction, modify this set to give a right turn from Chester, thus cutting out one set of lights between this and the main A55 roundabout.
DavidBParticipantMy wife used this service for the first time today. Nice ride etc., but the almost constant audio announcements are really tedious, obviously extended due to the dual language requirement. One would have thought the visual display would be sufficient, except for any blind passengers of course. The driver could perhaps switch the audio announcements off until it is observed that a blind person is boarding.
DavidBParticipantSince folks are talking about tyre fitting, I can thoroughly recommend AutoKit tyre service,Hightown road (just off the roundabout at the entrance to Eagles Meadow car park.) Have used them for years, excellent service, honest and reliable.
DavidBParticipantIt would be interesting to get a definitive actual value of the Chief Execs pay from the Authority.
A figure of £105,000 was mentioned in a previous article.
Also the pay scale seems to have been “stretched” from a max of £117,500 to £125,000.
If my maths is correct, this looks like an increase of 6.38%.
Not bad in this climate of austerity !!
DavidBParticipantJust thought I would add my experiences of speeds in Wrexham for general information.
I am connected to the main Wrexham exchange and about 1.5 km from it to the North( Rhosddu/New Road/Osborne Road area.)
I am on ADSL2+ with Plusnet and am getting download speeds of 13.5 Mb/s and upload of 0.9/1.0 Mb/s , very solid connection and speeds.
My router is actually operating at a sync speed of 16.1Mb/s. Most people should be able to get similar speeds at a similar distance from the exhange. -
