My information from the council is similar to the above, and with the new FTTC cabinets installed maybe this December is possible.

“The present time Wrexham is covered by 15 telephone exchanges. Of these exchanges three, Wrexham Town, Wrexham North and Gresford are scheduled for the Fibre to the Cabinet (known by the acronym FTTC) upgrade, which will give a speed of 80 Mbps.
Caergwrle exchange situated in Flintshire, which serves households and businesses in the County has also been upgraded.
In addition, elsewhere in the County Borough, four exchanges, Wrexham North, Wrexham, Ruabon and Rhos are Twenty First Century Network (21CN) enabled, with one more, at Chirk coming on line within a month. 21CN is not as powerful as FTTC, but will give enhanced speeds of up to 24Mbps (dependent upon distance from the exchange & copper quality)“,

My residential address is covered by the Wrexham exchange but still only gets 2mbps even if it is using 21CN !

Ian Lucas, our local MP, and Bob Dutton my councillor, have both been busy pushing BT to get faster broadband rolled out across all of Wrexham. They told me :

The area around Percy Road, Coed Y Glyn and Ithens should be upgraded by December 2012 to a “21CN” service. A 21st Century network ADSL2+ service should allow download speeds potentially up to 24mbps.

BT do not yet have a date to move our area to their super fast FTTC service, Fibre Broadband. How fast this will be will still depend on the local wire quality !!! BT will run superfast fibre cables to your local box but it will still be copper & aluminium wire from your local box to your house.

    Phew :)

Left lane for Hightown would make far more sense, as it is it’s just another example of a badly designed road in Wrexham.

From my experience I would say at least 80% of vehicles are in the RH lane. Out of those in the LH lane some of them end up going to Hightown anyway.

Could we perhaps request that the council start up a road improvement suggestion form on their website so everyone has a chance to point out things like this, seeing as they are oblivious to the issues themselves

Excellent idea mate. This is a real issue partly due to some people travelling at such speeds in left lane and then not turning left but going over the roundabout and up to Hightown , pretty close to to cars in the right lane !

The right turn filter on the road to Marchwiel right outside the Green Dragon in Hightown has been a preal ain for years. It only works every other change, god knows why.

Traffic coming into town continually come through on red leaving little time to turn right.

Several council? surveys have been there but it’s still pretty dangerous, still noone killed there I suppose !

It sounds like they are intending to control the traffic coming from Wrexham with lights as well, so the whole roundabout will be better managed.

This remains to be seen I think.

I have a suspicion that all they intend doing is improve access to and from Chester Business Park, which will make an already unbearable journey for Wrexham people going north on A483 and onto A55 into a totally unacceptable one !

Ian Lucas did it once at the critical 8:00am to 9:00am time and was horrified. Try doing it every bloody day though.:(

When will ALL drivers in Wrexham learn the need to use their indicators ?

Just sheer laziness. Doesn’t happen to same degree in other towns.

Called at Sainsbury’s yesterday morning. Left at 8:55am

Got home to Coed Y Glyn at 9:29am ! May as well walked !

Bloody Shambles. Shan’t bother going to Sainbury’s unless this changes.

Whoever heard of a serious accident under the Stansty/Rhosddu bridge anyway ?
