Council WatcherParticipantFive years later and still waiting — come on Cllr Hugh Jones where is the Town Centre WiFi you promised?
December 30, 2017 at 10:36 am in reply to: Wrexham LDP suspended over lack of housing provision #142569
Council WatcherParticipantSix years later and still no Local Development Plan–
Why has Welsh Government permitted this to go on for so long?
If there is no Plan in place then there is clearly no direction from the Council — something we see ion a daily basis.December 28, 2017 at 11:55 am in reply to: PCSO Reductions Get rid of em all, waste of time. #142498
Council WatcherParticipantIne of the points that have been overlooked is that Wrexham as a Council is actually one of the few Councils that pays anything for PCSO. Irrespective of how effective they are the point is Wrexham residents are paying for servuce other areas either don’t have or they are paid directly from the Police budget.
The question should be:
1. What happens in areas that don’t have PCSO’s — is the crime rate higher than in Wrexham?
2. If an area does not have Council funded PCSO’s do they get a better Police response?Rather than trying to pick holes on how good a particular PCSO is / or not performing the debate should be about funding and response
December 19, 2017 at 9:02 pm in reply to: Extra cash for Wrexham – AM writes to Council Leader #142203
Council WatcherParticipantWhichever way you view this statement it is not extra cash but less of a reduction that the Welsh Government had already indicated would be occurring.
A reduction in a negative figure does not make ‘extra’ just potentially a reduction in the level of cuts that are still required.
Lesley has not said that Carwyn has written to Teressa May asking for more funding to Wales
Council WatcherParticipantWrexham Council already has a Transport Grant from Welsh Government to subsidise certain routes after 6.00pm and on a Sunday.
The grant funding has also been used for electronic bus signage — that does not work and also car park signage – oh yes this does not work either.
The question to be asked us how are the Council using their transport grants and is it effective as it could be?
Council WatcherParticipantAnother side issue to the free car parking in December is that the new Ty Pwb arts hub has car parking income from the Peoples Market as part of its financial budget- if the free car parking is carried out again for Council Car parks have they adjusted their budget forecast to reflect a loss of 1/12th of their car park revenue. This adding to the already heavily predicted loss.
December 2, 2017 at 9:56 am in reply to: Town Centre Masterplan excludes the voice of businesses and public #141206
Council WatcherParticipantI appreciate that business is busy this time of the year but the report makes no reference to involving business people. I am sure that any business owner will say that one of the most crucial things that affect their business location is whether they have shops either side that is clean, tidy and above all their doors are open. Retail and town successes re totally interdependent on EVERYONE. The arrogance of the Council in the report looking to find success from within the corridors of the Guildhall or in the case of this report the corridors of the Council offices on Ruthin Road is really taking the Micky.
Congratulation to all this businesses and individuals that have set up the Saturday events — most of the effort coming from outside of the Council.

Council WatcherParticipantDobro pozhalovat’, tovarishch, priyatno znat’, chto yest’ druz’ya, u menya yest’ druz’ya zdes —
Welcome comrade nice to know there are fellows I have friends on here
Council WatcherParticipantThere is a huge deficit in the Local Government Pension scheme ( in Wrexham it is the old Clwyd Local Government scheme) so in addition to the amount being allocated to the individual there is also 20% plus that is being paid to cover the deficit.
As the staff numbers contributing are reducing with cutbacks over a period of time the contribution to fund the deficit is likely to be close to 30% within 5 years. Poor financial investments in the past mean local ratepayers today are now paying for historical failings.November 26, 2017 at 9:52 am in reply to: Welsh nationalists Plaid Cymru who are the kidding #140962
Council WatcherParticipantOn the assumption that a number of contributors are one of the same – the Christmas get together would only need a very small room to meet!!!
