They will continue in the same vein as long as people continue to vote for them come election time.

    Because the Council is incapable.

Notice that the Council Leader was spouting how democratic the decision was to not adopt the LDP. He then spoils it all by also saying that if the vote would have gone the other way then he would have had serious concerns. So, Pritchard is democracy only good if it coincides with your personal opinion? Having worked on the LDP at Wrexham it is obvious that the warring local politicians, many of which can’t intellectually think to a level beyond minor ward issues, will never agree to a County Borough wide LDP. They might rue their decision when development may be imposed on them. And good thing too as they are not fit for purpose.

Matt, I agree with everything you say but what is the different way you would address the issues covered in the plan?..

There has been a lack of majority political support for the Local Development Plan from the start and those councillors and political groups of strength have consistently bowed to the minority. Strategic decision making by councilloors has been woeful. The failure of the Plan is fundamentally down to politicians’ unable to decide on the location of a gypsy site – a relatively minor, albeit politically controversial, issue in the context of all yhe other very important policies in the Plan. And yes, the Leader of the Council has failed miserably to lead on getting political consensus on the Plan and in his weasly way has now declared he has lost confidence in the two versions of the Plan that he has led the political decision making. Unbelievable situation and a change in leadership is long overdue.

It has nothing to do with democracy. Its purely a cost saving exercise.
