Unbelievably annoying. Like a lot of people I’ve been monitoring this.
Spotted the open reach vans around the street doing the work last month and started getting excited!

I don’t know of anyone that is able to order on the Wrexham (Grosvenor road) exchange yet despite the Openreach checker saying its accepting orders (Openreach – Superfast fibre broadband – Where and when).

Anyone in the area that had fibre will be on the Wrexham North exchange which serves brymbo, gresford, gwersyllt, that side of Wrexham.
That’s been available for a while now.

    AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!

I’m all for it – more jobs is the main reason, but also the impact to the industrial estate as well will be positive.
Right now that industrial estate is a bare shell of what it once was.
A few high profile builds like this (along with the improved access roads being built right now) can only be a good thing.
It’s also far enough away from the town to not become a nuisance/eye sore etc

    Completely agree with you Justjojo.

I’m also in Hightown and last weeks collection day in our cul-de-sac saw litter left lying in the road, and it’s not the first time I’ve noticed it.

I often wonder why i bother bagging up our rubbish before putting it in the bin.

Personally, I’d love to see a lot more independent shops – Locally owned, locally produced, locally funded.

It’s nice to have the big named shops, maybe for those times you need a tin of paint, a lettuce and an iron at 3am (here’s to you Tesco ;)), but shopping no longer exists like it once did.

Not so long ago, when you went shopping it was a full few hours, out the house by 9am to get a parking space, get in to town, do a few shops, stop for breakfast, few more shops etc then home with bags galore.
Now, it’s too easy to get everything from the one shop – with that comes quality (or lack of). No one shop can specialise in everything.

What i’m getting around to, is i’d like to see more shops doing what they do best and not trying to be everything to everyone.

When Woolworths closed down i thought would’ve been a cracking location to divide up in to a mini-mall. Get it filled out with independent, boutique style shops. Maybe a couple of deli’s. How about a nice little ice cream parlour. Fill it with colour, style, smell. Everything to get your senses going.
    Look what happened there instead…

I think the reason Chester is more popular with local people, is because Wrexham is cheap, bland, tacky and some other words that i can’t think of right now.
People like to think that they’ve bought something a little special, a little unique – that’s why the rows in chester do so well.

Granted, not everybody would want those kind of shops as they are generally more expensive that what we have now. However, I’d most definitely prefer to support the Wrexham economy if I didn’t feel like I was going to get mugged by a gang of 8 year old tracksuit wearing kids coming out of one of many discount stores.

I firmly believe that the majority of people (all over the country, not just wrexham) don’t have a problem with Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Asian, etc

Instead, it seems to be the minority who somehow manage to get themselves heard and make out the whole world is against them, and that their own local councils are not treating them fairly – instead giving everything to the foreigners.

The way I look at it is this… when I’m in the local supermarkets, I see a high % of foreign people. They keep themselves to themselves, get on with things.
When I’m in the centre of town in the middle of the day, who is it that I see with kids in tow, shouting, smoking, drinking, generally being ‘anti-social’ ??
That’s right, it’s the Wrexham locals, the ‘born and bread’.

Sometimes, I’m actually quite embarrassed to say I’m from Wrexham.
There will always be race issues in and around Wrexham whilst we have kids being brought up by mindless, work-shy, uneducated, benefit loving tramps, who believe unless you have a Welsh dragon tattoo’d somewhere on your body you don’t belong.

It reminds of the same mindless hooliganism that goes on in football.

    rant over :)

I thought about this myself last night when driving through queensway.
It looks awful, and really makes the place look, for want of a better word, desperate.

I did think to myself, if i had a petrol mower, I’d go and do it myself.

Pot holes are always the story in and around the industrial estate. Many times (especially on the estate itself) I’ve seen a workman turn up with a bucket of tar, poor it in the hole and hope for the best.

I’d like to think they’ve done all they can with this new road system to avoid any future problems that will require major re-works. Completely defeats the point if the road is down to one lane every few months.
