Arfon JonesParticipantIt is also my understanding that a lot of crime is not being recorded, but every time I mention it I get accused of undermining the cops and increasing the fear of crime. I am therefore pleased the matter has been raised on here.
Arfon JonesParticipantIt is a coincidence! I sit on the Audit Committee and have had access to these accounts since June. They have been discussed in two Audit Committees, one in June and again end of September, both open meetings. The accounts are then signed off after the September meeting. The Press Release was not therefore issued as a result of you publishing the accounts as a Wrexham.com forum topic.

Arfon JonesParticipantNJones – Thanks for your comments, could you possibly sign the petition and include your comments. We will be presenting the petition to Council and its important we have people’s knowledge and experience of the area
Diolch,
Arfon.
Arfon JonesParticipantYes they could, then it would go back to the council’s coffers. Most Councillors who are on the basic salary are looking at an increase of approx £400 a year or £24 a month net (I think, this will need clarification). I’d sooner see that £24 a month go to a local charity, it will make more difference there than in a budget of £210 million.
Arfon JonesParticipantTo clarify Wrexview claims we are forced to accept, that is not the case at all, we can decline this increase or we can accept it and donate it to a charity which is what I intend to do with my net increase.
Arfon JonesParticipantThis situation is as clear as mud, Lead Members allowance goes up from £19,500 to £28,000 and that applies to 7 of the 10 Members of the Executive Board, it does not apply to Cllr D. A. Bithell who is not a Lead Member. The Labour group said they would donate their increases to local charities, Neil Rogers did not make it clear whether it is just the Members salary would go to charity or the £9,000 x 4 which the 4 Labour Lead Members will get. Cllr Mark Pritchard seemed to support the Independent Remuneration panel’s recommendation which seemed to suggest he intends to accept his increase from £19,500 to £33,000 as Deputy Leader. The other two Leade Members, Cllr Bob Dutton and Cllr Hugh Jones did not indicate one way or another whether they intend to accept their £9,000 increase. None of the Chairs of Committees which draw a senior salary indicated whether they intended to accept an increase of £2,000 each. Without making an FOI request after a couple of months no one will know what salary Councillors took until the end of the year when figures will be published.
This will be a bitter pill indeed for public sector workers in Wrecsam to swallow; when their own salaries have been frozen.

Arfon JonesParticipantMike – No my main concern is the lack of a pavement for pedestrians along the narrowest bit; there is also an argument for 40mph restrictions up to Glascoed and then down to 30mph after that.
Arfon JonesParticipantVery happy with the decision, let’s hope that it will now be passed by the planning committee on the 11th June, so we can draw down the cash from the Assembly without further delay. We can then start building in readiness for opening in September 2013.
May 14, 2012 at 9:28 am in reply to: Wrexham Food Festival – Did you go? Did you know it was on? #56176
Arfon JonesParticipantYes, I did go and thoroughly enjoyed it. Coffee from Wrexham Tea and Coffee, Cheese from Caws Cenarth, Pork Pies from Dragon Pies and last but bot least lots of beer from the Great Orme Brewery…and very good it is as well.
