I don’t understand. What’s wrong with the old one? Is there something wrong with the building? Is the swimming pool leaking? I think WCBC need to take into account the old saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

Looking across at Waterworld from the Tesco roundabout it is an iconic design. Have the Council looked at other uses for the building?

shows that English Heritage have preservation orders on similar structures. Apparently no structural survey has been carried out as part of the £52k consultancy so I doubt whether the question of CADW or some similar body imposing a preservation order on Waterworld has been raised either.

Hundreds Protest Against Closure Of Wrexham’s Leisure Centres | Wrexham.com

Good to see a fair turn out for the protest at Plas Madoc. A shame the same couldn’t be said for the protest at Waterworld today – only a handful of people actually bothered.

I’ve brought this to CADW’s attention and they are looking into it.

This has now been referred to CADW’s historic building inspector who is considering Waterworld for protection due to architectural interest and technical innovation due to its hyperbolic paraboloid roof.
