Will the Council be charged for the police time spent inside the Guildhall today? I believe The Wrexham Football Club have to pay for any Police presence within the Racecourse on match days, so a similar situation.

Was it to deal with the person who fell asleep, the one who had their feet on the seat or the one who slow clapped Cllr Neil Rogers?

It was quite odd – the last meeting had a security guard called in at one point and the ‘kick off’ was much more than anything today.

It was a little depressing that not only was there two policemen tied up for an hour or so in there, but its deemed necessary for a council meeting.

Does anyone know if the site visits for the planning committee are being ‘bubbled’ when they travel on the bus? :D

Having sat in the Gallery today I found the presence of the Police before the meting quite extraordinary- yes there may be some noise from the public- the first clapping was because a Council Member deigned to speak in favour of keeping the Centre open till October and the Leader of the Council was asking for silence not for the clapping but what the Council Member actually said.
The second ‘negative’ clapping was a protest–
How many Police need to be in Westminster when a debate is taking place- elected MPs barrack each other so why can’t the Public express their support or otherwise for speakers.
At least the clapping also manged to wake up one or two Council Members who showed no interest in the proceedings and remained totally silent despite their supposed influential position as elected members to represent the views of the people.

I do so hope that our council tax isn’t being used for police presence at council meetings.

There were police at a previous meeting, but only in the foyer after the meeting for around 5-10 mins tops.

Never seen them in the chamber itself, unless they were presenting something to a meeting :)
