Today Lesley Griffiths has welcomed the extra money being spent on the NHS in Wales. She says there will be extra beds made available in the Maelor Hospital ” to cope with the extra demand during the winter period ” This is not good enough we need more PERMANENT beds in the Maelor Hospital . This is not just a winter crisis, perhaps she should read the many threads on this site that go back over 12 months highlighting the problems. Dr Sen reiterated the root problem that had a knock on effect for all department including ambulances was the lack of beds within the hospital. The Labour run Welsh Assembly have constantly up until this point said categorically we do not need extra beds , Mark Drakeford was defending this stance even last week , despite everyone from front line professionals, patients and the public knowing otherwise. So is this a real change of view ? I think not , more a political papering over the cracks until the General Election is over !

They closed and sold off Trevalyn hospital and now there aren’t enough beds.
All across the country, there is an ever increasing population combined with longer lifespans.
Cottage Hospitals and then A&E departments have been closing for years and now there’s a crisis but no-one in Politics or management knows why.
    You couldn’t make it up.

MAY WE ASK LESLEY GRIFFITHS, Ian Lucas or Andrew Atkinson to join Antoinette Sandbach in highlighting the Circuit Of Wales Welsh Assembly Government money pit ?

motogp.com · British Grand Prix to run at Silverstone

BBC Wales TV News reported this motorcycle race will be held at Silverstone in 2015.
Reading further Silverstone will also be the venue in 2016!

Given the statements from Donington Park regarding the failure of their original Circuit Of Wales agreement it begs the question is any public money being paid to Silverstone by the WAG for 2015 and/or 2016 ?

It appears Antoinette Sandbach is the most prominent political critic of the WAG spending millions on this white elephant at a time when public money is so tight.
Is it not unreasonable that other politicians might at least ask how much has been spent already, how much is the Welsh Assembly Government committed to spend, and given the enquiry coming in March – WILL IT ALL BE MONEY TOTALLY WASTED ?

” The WAG truly are astonishing, in addition to the above, can we add proposed spending £500,000 to pay the organisers of 2015 British MotoGp to be held at Donington Park in Leicestershire ?
This in addition to £2m already paid as part of the deal to become the home of this race from 2016 onwards.
At a track that hasn’t been built yet, may never be, with the hope of bringing 6000 jobs into a deprived area.
Most importantly the other investors needed are yet to be confirmed.
Welsh Government accused of secretly funding Circuit of Wales scheme – Motorcycle news : General news – Visordown

If the WAG actually looked into the reality of the economics of running a motor racing circuit or of hosting MotoGP, F1 etc its well documented that what is hoped for in terms of jobs, economic benefits, tourism etc rarely meets expectations.

All this a time when they have NO money to support libraries or leisure centres.

    Absolutely shocking. “
