    The Local Government Act 2000 section 11 , Local Authority Executives , paragraph 8 states

    “The number of members of a mayor and cabinet executive OR a leader and cabinet executive may not exceed 10.”

    The Council, if they so wish, are able to reduce the number on the Executive Board back to 8.

    Maybe a question for prospective Councillors at the election next year!

    To add to the ‘wages’ / ‘allowance’ each Councillor is also eligible for a Pension — look how many on the current Council are likely to pull out at next years election but will then continue to be paid a pension-

    Please provide the following information in relation to Council members and the Local Government Pension Scheme or other such provision.

    1. How many Councillors are enrolled in the Pension Scheme?

    25 are currently a member of the LGPS for Councillors.
    All Members are eligible to join the scheme as determined by the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales.

    2. The total amount paid into the Pension Fund/s for all those covered by (1)

    Current employer percentage is 26% of the basic / senior salary.

    3. The % of funding paid in for Council Members against their individual allowance– if this is different for different roles please list ALL together with any financial banding attributable to the allowance/role?

    Both basic and senior salary attracts 6% as a member contribution.

    4. What is the total financial contribution deducted from Members Allowances and what is the total paid from other Council sources?
