jimbowParticipantThe Council tell us they are looking at ways of increasing revenue. The 3 Wrexham Indoor Market rents income total around £250k.This is all for the Council’s back pocket, the running costs of the markets are paid for by the tenants through a separate service charge account. There is also around £12k a year income from the outdoor market. The Council have never re invested any money back into the markets. To me the Arts Hub in the Peoples Market and the loss of market stall revenue is a backward step. It defeats the object of trying to increase revenue in the first place.

AlunhParticipant……..with the closure of one town centre Car Park, it does appear very strange as well that the Council are considering the cession of parts of the Peoples Market Car Park to the Arts Hub…..either for the purpose of enhancing the offer (as in the roof-top) or as a revenue raiser for the centre. Is this wise?

99DylanJonesParticipantAnyone with an ounce of commercial sense would by now have put up signs to direct people away from the closed car park to one of their own!

[/quote] The car park outside the Peoples Market has been free for about two weeks due to the ticket machines being vandalised. Dylan, don’t tell everybody.

99DylanJonesParticipantSo the stand off between Wrexham and Flintshire Council continues- it is interesting that Flintshire are now in talks with Cheshire West. What a brilliant move they are actually looking at where local residents work and job rather than any boundary the Welsh Government sets. This is going to isolate Wrexham even further and the residents of Wrexham better be prepared for a second class or no service from WCBC.
The arrogant attitude from the Councillors of Wrexham is a disgrace and will no doubt be recertified at the 2017 elections.
With the level of cuts that Councils have to make they need to look forward rather than trying to assume the past can be maintained. At a basic level the very significant cuts in management (which were clearly needed to some extent) is going to leave Wrexham with Junior officers taking senior decisions with in some instances dire consequences.
Clr Pritchard and Co get off your very wobbly soap box, put it on the Bonfire on 5th November and start working for the general good of the people of Wrexham rather than maintaining your personal egos.December 2, 2015 at 9:58 pm #104211
