Tuesday 6th September-Friday 9th September

The fourth in a hugely successful series of biennial international conferences on Internet Technologies and Applications, ITA 11 will be held at Glyndŵr University, Wrexham from Tuesday 6th to Friday 9th September 2011. The conference will draw together researchers and developers from academia and industry across all fields of Internet computing and engineering. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. There will be an award for best paper and selected papers will be included in a book published by Brown Walker Press. Friday 9th September/Saturday 10th September

Wrexham Musical Theatre Society will be performing their latest show “It’s De-Lovely : Cole Porter” featuring items from some of his more well-known shows. Starts 7.30pm both nights at the Riverside Studio Theatre (opposite Matalan). Tickets cost £8 and are available from Wrexham Tourist Info in person or telephone 01978 292015.

Tuesday 6th September

How to manage your business finances. This workshop at Bersham Enterprise Park will take you through the process of preparing and analysing financial statements and provides information on how to prepare cash flow forecasts, profit & loss accounts and balance sheets. 5.30pm-8.30pm. Entry free.

Wednesday 7th September

Wrexham folk should keep tonight in their TV diary as BBC1’s National Treasures will be shown live from Erddig! The show starts at 7.30pm and actress Sheila Hancock will be joining historian Dan Snow and presenter Siân Williams to delve into the Upstairs Downstairs life-style of Erddig Hall.

Los Angeles post hardcore band Letlive will take to the stage at Central Station tonight. The gig starts at 7pm and tickets can be bought for £5 advance from http://www.seetickets.com/Event/LETLIVE/Central-Station/567444.

Thursday 8th September

How to research your market. This workshop at Bersham Enterprise Park provides an introduction to the marketing process and will introduce you to developing marketing strategies. You will gain an understanding in market research and why good market research can provide a solid foundation in developing your marketing strategy. 5.30pm-8.30pm. Entry free.

Eclectric Presents…Turbogiest, a heavy alternative rock band at Wrexham’s Central Station on Thursday night. Starts 8pm. Tickets £2.

Friday 9th September

Rhythm and Muse with an exhibition of photographs by Ioan Davies Poetry reading by Jan Lancelotte-Heard and a medley of songs from National Eisteddfod winners Clwb Wrecsam will take place at Gwersyllt Resource Centre. Starts 4.30pm. Entry free.

CMND/CTRL Presents: Portlights plus special guests Kingfisher at Central Station. Cmnd/Ctrl is a brand new night boasting the best of indie/rock/alternative/punk/soul & electro music every Friday night in Central Station, this week featuring sets from Portlights and special guest I’m Kingfisher. Starts 8pm. Entry free until 11pm £2 afterwards.

Saturday 10th September

Brynteg Memorial Hall is holding a Country Show and Market at 1pm on Saturday, which includes a market, dog show, greenwood activites, marching band and much more. Entry free.

If you’re looking for something to do involving Wrexham’s nightlife on Saturday night Sonic Funk at Frenzi will provide you with nu-funk, breaks, classic hip-hop and ghettofunk classics from two of the most talked about DJs around Wrexham, Tom James & Shaun Price. Starts 10pm. Entry free.

Sunday 11th September

Scarecrow Festival – Harvest Celebrations at Wrexham’s World Heritage Site. Come and scare the crows at Trevor Basin, where this Sunday you can make a traditional scarecrow and enter the competition, or just come and have a look. Lots of fun for all the family with activities, stalls, fairground rides, facepainting, boat rides across the Aqueduct and lots more. Starts 1pm. Entry free. Monday 12th September

Bill Basey Big Band Concert. A concert of big band music from the 1930s – 1960s in the style of Glen Miller, Count Basie, Benny Goodman and others will be held at The Club House (Ex Bicc) Wrexham. Starts 8.30pm. Entry £3.
