Tuesday 9th August

Nant Mill is holding a duck and river raft race event on Tuesday afternoon at 1.30pm, these events are always good fun for the whole family and a £50 prize is on offer to the winner. This is a free event with refreshments provided by the friends of Nant Mill.

At 11am Ponciau Banks Park hosts a free BMX coaching session with a pro coach, spaces are limited contact Country Parks on 01978 844028 or email [email protected] for more information.

Wednesday 10th August

A 999 Emergency and Health Awareness Day will take place at Gwersyllt Community Resource Centre at 12pm. The police, fire, ambulance and RNLI services will be on hand to give free advice to the community. Information and advice from partner agencies, Community Safety, AVOW, Age Concern and many more will be available throughout the afternoon. Entry is free.

On Wednesday evening the National Youth Orchestra of Wales will join world-renowned Japanese conductor Takuo Yuasa to celebrate the orchestra’s 65th anniversary at the William Aston Hall. Starts 7.30pm. Tickets £12 adults £9 concessions and £6 (under 25s). Box Office: 01978 293293.

Thursday 11th August

Join the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and all their friends for an afternoon in Wonderland as Chirk Castle plays host to the Mad Hatters Tea Party. Lots of fun for all the family including traditional games, trails and quizzes. and a fancy dress competition will take place at 3pm. Event starts 11am. Normal entry prices apply.

On Thursday evening The Faction presents Eclectric Ft The Lines at Central Station. The Lines are an up and coming band from Wolverhampton whose air guitar melodies and heartfelt vocals are said to make for an excellent live experience. Starts 8pm. Entry £2.

Friday 12th August

Culture Kid Treasure Hunt. Come and join in all the fun of the treasure hunt at Wrexham’s Queens Square from 11am hosted by the Wrexham Year of Culture Team. If you can solve all the clues you’ll find Culture Kid. There are some great prizes on offer for the winners. Treasure hunt clue sheets are available from Wrexham Tourist Information Centre, Queens Square. Free event.

Wrexham Music presents Mother Of Six, The Gallops, Mechanical Owl, Stop The 64 and White Priest at Central Station. Starts 8pm. Entry £4.

Also on Friday night ‘5 Past 40’ play an electric mix featuring the songs of groups such as Pink Floyd, ELO and Stereophonics at Bellevue Park Bandstand. Starts 7pm. Free event.

Saturday 13th August

Family Fun Day at Llay Park Resource Centre 12.00pm until 5.00pm. Bouncy castle, sweet stall, face painting, fair rides, police car, fire engine, raffle, bottle stall, tombola and many other attractions. Entry free. All money raised will be equally split between The New Computers Fund and The Katie Piper Foundation.

Sunday 14th August

Bring the family to see a demonstation in Wicker Craft & Rattan Cane Furniture at the Plassey Craft & Retail Centre. Items will be available to purchase. Starts 10.30am. Entry free.
