Saturday 3rd August

The Ventures 35th Birthday Celebrations

The Venture is a children’s charity in Caia Park consisting of an adventure playground, early years centre, mentoring schemes and alternative learning programmes. They are celebrating their 35th birthday with a big pirates and princesses themed party. The event will see the official opening of a huge pirate ship built by the children and young people and made possible through a grant from WREN. All activities are free and food is also provided. Tiaras or eye patches are essential for entry.

Rossett Country Market

Indigo Theatre’s One Man Pantomime

Indigo has two small performances. The toddler show uses puppets and characters, music and mayhem for a fun, interactive theatrical extravaganza. The Junior show uses masks and screen projections to create a tale about a young boy trying to be a knight. Both shows last 30-40 minutes. You don’t need to book but there is a full capacity of 35 people for each show. This is event is suitable for 3-10year olds.

Dragon Sport Multi Skills

A new way of teaching children the skills for a life in sport is set to give Welsh youngsters the same sporting start as in countries like Australia and New Zealand Dragon Multi-Skills and Sport will focus on embedding basic skills – such as agility, balance and co-ordination – that give the essential building blocks, before moving on to playing a specific sport. This event is suitable for ages 8 – 11.

Ex-Miners Meeting

NWMAT & LMHC would like any ex Mines Rescue Team members to pop along to Llay Miners Welfare at 2pm to chat about your time as Rescue Team members & also about the practices at the Mines Rescue Station.  If you have any memorabilia, photo’s etc from your time there we would be pleased to see it.

Dingle and the Darkie Ranger-led Walk

A 4 mile walk which starts near the Duke of Wellington Public House in Trevor, and links the new World Heritage Site at Pontcysyllte aqueduct with the surrounding countryside. Meet in the layby (LL14 3SG / Grid Ref. SJ 272 428). Unsurfaced paths, some steep inclines, some stiles. 4 miles / 2 hours. No dogs please.
