Wrexham’s Christmas Tree Goes Up Ahead of Town Centre Lantern Parade
Wrexham Town Centre’s Christmas Tree has been put up – with less than a week to go until this year’s Christmas Light Switch On.
Earlier this week Wrexham.com tweeted to say that we had spotted a ‘low loader with a huge Christmas tree heading into town’ – however with Storm Barney hitting the town the same night, there was uncertainty as to whether or not the tree would make it up!
However the Christmas Tree braved the wind and is now awaiting decoration ahead of next Thursday’s Lantern Parade.
The Lanterns and Lights Parade aims to expand on last year’s event, which saw saw hundreds parade their festive lanterns across the town centre before gathering on Queens Square to sing festive carols around Wrexham’s grand Christmas tree.
Last year’s event received great praise – with many commenting on the family friendly and community feel that was created throughout the evening. The parade will bring ‘the light of Christmas to every corner of the town’ and will be led by Santa himself, along with his sleigh and reindeer.
As with previous years, next month’s Christmas event will begin at 6pm with crowds expected to begin gathering at Queens Square from 5:30pm.
Tomorrow is also the last chance to make your very own lantern for next week’s parade. Those interested can pop into Undegun, Regent Street between 11am to 4pm.
Full details of this year’s Christmas Lantern Parade and festive events around Wrexham can be found on our dedicated Christmas Light Switch On page here.
