Train users are being advised or temporary service changes this month while ‘essential upgrade work’ is undertaken by Network Rail.

Between Friday 24th March and Saturday 1st April the upgrading works will take place between Wrexham General Station and Chester Station.

Replacement bus services will run between Wrexham General station and Chester station from 21.00 on 25 March until 05.00 am on 1 April including including both weekends. This will add about 15 minutes to journeys.

For those travelling further afield please check connecting services at Chester as bus services will also be running along the North Wales coast between Chester and Rhyl from 21.00 on Friday 24 March until 23.35 on Saturday 25 March and between Chester and Llandudno Junction between 23.35 on 25 March and 05.10 on 27 March.

Earlier this week Wrexham.com reported that four level crossings between Wrexham and Chester will temporarily close this spring due to the essential upgrade work.

The work, which is being carried out as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan, will see the crossings benefit from safer, state-of-the-art obstacle detection systems, and new full barriers, as part of the final phase of the North/South Wales Enhancement project.

Further details about the level crossing / road closures can be found here.

Please check journey plans before you travel at Arriva Trains Wales.
