Wrexham Council Cuts Consultation Ends Next Friday
A consultation on how people would cut money from the Council’s budget has had more taking part this year with over a week to go than the entire of last year’s exercise.
Wrexham Council have told us that they have had north of 670 responses so far, with the consultation remaining open until Friday next week.
Last years consultation totalled 631 responses overall, so the response rate is already higher this time around. You can read a break down of the responses to the last consultation here, with 631 responses equating to around 0.5% of the local population.
The consultation went live on September 15th with participants given the opportunity to indicate their choices to use the remaining £3,669,000 of savings from the proposals put forward.
Part of the promotion of the consultation has been the creation of the ‘budget house’ image to relate the decisions for the Council to be put in the context of a home. When the image was first placed on the Council’s Facebook page it received comments describing it as a ‘patronisingly obvious diagram’, with others making witty observational comments such as “nice to see the accuracy of the conditions of the roads being represented with the pothole, although the cones imply it’s being worked on.”
There is also a small Youtube Clip introducing the consultation that has been viewed just over 200 times:
The consultation is active until the end of next week and as usual we encourage anyone and everyone to take part. For those who fancy doing the consultation, it can be found on the Wrexham Council website here.
