Wrexham Christmas Lights Switch On 2014 – Picture Special
This evening saw Wrexham’s Christmas lights being turned on, with a lantern parade taking place throughout the town centre.
Hundreds gathered in Queens Square for this evening’s events, which saw crowds take part in a parade with specially made, hand crafted lanterns.
The parade set off from Queens Square at 6pm, before heading down Lambpit Street, across Chester Street then up through High Street, Hope Street, and through Argyle Street to Queens Square.
Father Christmas and reindeer were on hand with their sleigh to lead the lantern parade through the town. After the parade there was also the chance for children to have their photo taken with Father Christmas himself!
The lights came on as the parade passed through town, with Christmas carols being sung under the Christmas Tree with a few blasts of a snow machine creating a festive feel.
As they say, pictures paint a thousand words…. so here are a few from this evening!
…and people were wondering who turned on our lights this Christmas, it was one of these people, who along with the organisers and volunteers did a great job on a very limited budget this year:
