Warning as gusty Aileen to hit Wrexham overnight
The Met Office have upgraded the period of bad weather to hit the area this evening into tomorrow to a fully named storm – Aileen!
Yesterday we reported how strong gusts were due overnight, however the forecast now has these down as possibly stronger than predicted.
Although today is a lovely day in the area the weather is due to change around 4pm with heavy rain predicted, through to the early hours of tomorrow.
#StormAileen has officially been named & will bring severe gales to central parts of the UK. More here https://t.co/b5tJBGZGiT #WeatherAware pic.twitter.com/1OoA7zIYNY

The Met Office amber alert is one step up from the usual ‘yellow’ warnings, and is accompanied with a note that reads: “Storm Aileen will bring a brief spell of very strong westerly winds with gusts of 65-75 mph during the early hours of Wednesday
“Longer journey times by road, rail and air are looking likely, with restrictions on roads and bridges. Damage to trees and perhaps buildings, as well as power cuts are expected.
“Flying debris and large coastal waves are possible, and these could lead to injuries.”
