Trust Group Aim To Take Over Running Of Plas Madoc
At a public meeting last night there was unanimous support for the principle for a trust to take over the running of Plas Madoc.
A committee is to be formed to explore running it as a social enterprise.
One supporter told us this morning: “There was a fantastic turnout for a Public meeting this week to get an endorsement from local people and users of Plas Madoc Leisure Centre to form a Trust to take over the running of the Centre.
“It was unanimous that a Trust should be formed and negotiate with the Council for the transfer to take place as soon as possible ahead of the October demolition date.”
Around 130 people met to discuss the options, with the centre due to close on the 28th of April. As we have reported recent discussions have seen Wrexham Council commit to ‘mothballing’ the centre until October 1st.
The group are confident they can get something in place to reopen the centre well before the planned demolition date of October 2nd.
The supporter went on to say: “It is hoped that the closure of the centre will be for the shortest time possible and the group had some exciting ideas once the Centre is reopened.”
“The Facebook and Website are still running for people to keep up to date with latest news.”
