Town Open For Business Despite Snow Clear Up
The clear up of Wrexham town centre continued today after the unexpected snowfall the past four days.
In the town centre itself the roads and pavements have mostly been cleared, which has resulted in some pretty impressive piles of snow. Around town there are still gritters out and about; along with tractors and ploughs clearing the library car park, and a crane clearing the snow off the roof of Lloyds TSB.
Lloyds TSB seems to have been hit quite badly by the snow, with guttering from the building having fallen off. The pavement outside the bank and the old JD Sports store has been taped and closed off to pedestrians. There is also bad damage to the Lloyds TSB sign.
Icicles hung from the Horse and Jockey public house, and from several overhanging entrance signs around town. Piles of snow dominated the streets left over from people creating paths over the weekend (top picture) . A mini digger was being used infront of Wrexham Museum to help create a route in to the visitors centre from Regent St.
Both entrances to Bank Street have similar signs telling people that the shops on the street are still open for business. However the street itself still has a fair bit of snow on the sides and looks quite slippy. There are also warnings to customers of the risk of falling debris, ice and snow from the roofs.
We have an active thread on our Wrexham Forums about the recent bad weather and how it has affected people, plus details of some oddly high charges for services! You can read and take part by clicking here….
