A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office.

The warning, which covers Wrexham, is in place from 2pm this afternoon through until 10pm this evening.

There has already been heavy rain across Wrexham today, however more downpours are also expected early this afternoon.

The Met Office are also warning that the heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause flooding and transport disruption across certain parts of the country.

Today’s warning is amongst several to have been issued by the Met Office in recent weeks, with the end of July and the start of August seeing plenty of showers and stormy conditions.

In a statement, the Met Office say: “Although many places will miss them, heavy showers and thunderstorms may affect parts of the area through Wednesday afternoon, before slowly dying out from the west during the evening.

“A few spots could see as much as 25 mm in an hour, and perhaps 40 mm in two or three hours.”
