A temporary road closure on Mold Road is to be put in place on Saturday as football fans leave Wrexham.

This Saturday will see football fans travel to the town to watch Wrexham v Chester at the Racecourse. The road closure is expected to be kept to a minimum, however disruption is expected between 2:45pm and 3pm when the match ends.

As with previous Wrexham and Chester matches, the game is ‘Safe Transport / Bubble Match’ – meaning that Chester fans will be transported in and out of the town on coaches with police escorts.

Due to the nature of the coaches and fans all leaving the Racecourse at the end of the match, there will be a temporary road closure put in place to allow vehicles to leave the site.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “Motorists are being advised that the Mold Road in Wrexham will be closed for a short time on Saturday to allow coaches to leave following the Chester v Wrexham football match. The closure will be kept to a minimum but there is likely to be some disruption at 2.45 to 3.00 pm. There will still be access for pedestrians.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. The council and police will use social media to advise when the road is about to close and when it is reopened.”
