Faulty lights stuck on red caused hours of delays for people trying to use the A483 and A55 junction near to the ‘Posthouse’ roundabout.

UPDATE 9pm: We have had a few people in touch to say Highways workers are on the site and now operating the lights manually, such as this tweet:

UPDATE 8:10pm: Cheshire Police have said they have ‘officers in the area’ in the last twenty minutes, with one person saying they had reported the issue to North Wales Police and they had referred it to Cheshire. Cheshire Police have earlier said they have made the Highways Agency aware of the problems.

UPDATE 8pm: Problems persist – we have just been as close as we can get without getting in the queue – to the Doddleston Lane bridge over the bypass and took these shots just before 8pm… first a view towards Rossett of the queues heading back, and the second northbound towards Chester:

Original story below…
The traffic light set on the new junction at the top of Wrexham Road were apparently ‘stuck on red’, with someone else telling us on the rare occasion they did change it was for a ‘matter of seconds’.

Due to this tailbacks were created back to Rossett, with travel affected from around 4:30pm well past 7pm.

As of 6:30pm one eyewitness told us there was no response on site by either police or highways, or work people attached to the redevelopment.

The following is a view of the traffic issues caused by the faulty lights:

As usual, our @wrexham twitter account was sent information, as was our Facebook page and email account:

Julia said “Why hasn’t anyone fixed it? The southbound cars were just taking their chances on the red light when the traffic from the garden centre road has stopped.”

Ed Jones said “Just come off the a55 and took ages to get through. Then it turned into a free for all with no one from Rossett able to get across due to light failure. Is anyone high up bothered?”

As usual people managed to see the lighter side of things, with this topical bit of wit:

Wrexham.com could not spot any updates from official sources during this issue, nor informed unofficial sources.
