Teenager Dies After Being Struck By Train Near Rhosymedre

A teenager has died after being struck by a train on railway line near Rhosymedre yesterday afternoon.

The body of the man, believed to be 18 and from the Chirk area, was found after police received a report of a someone being hit by a train at 5.15pm yesterday.

British Transport Police said that the train involved was the 3.07pm Arriva Trains Wales Birmingham International to Chester service.

They are currently treating the death as unexplained and are waiting to confirm the man’s identity and the circumstances in which he died.

They have also appealed for any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the Rhosymedre area yesterday.

The incident caused trains to be delayed between Shrewsbury and Chester for a number of hours last night with replacement bus services put on.
