Wrexham Glyndwr University’s business school has won a highly prestigious commendation by a marketing giant for the excellence of its teaching.

The North Wales Business School has been recognised by the Awarding Body at The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) for delivering first-class academic standards at postgraduate level

The CIM commended the university’s Diploma in Professional Marketing module, Digital Strategy, for the “excellent performance of its students” and “results achieved” for assessments submitted earlier this year.

Senior Lecturer, Business, Marketing and Consumer Behaviour, Tracy Powell, said: “We were delighted to receive the commendation. It’s fantastic news after our students worked so hard for their results. It’s an intense course they put so much effort in which has clearly paid off.”

“The course has helped the students increase their knowledge, skills and expertise and this commendation demonstrates how well they’ve done.”

The CIM is the leading international marketing and sales body. The institute exists to develop and maintain the professional standards whilst improving the skills of marketing and sales practitioners.

The diploma (Level 6) is a 12 week course, held one evening per week, which runs three times a year from January, April and September and costs £1,700.

The course commended had a 100 per cent pass rate with all students achieving high marks.
Professor Chris Jones, head of business at Glyndŵr, was thrilled with the honour and thanked his team for their efforts.

He said: “This is a huge achievement, a seal of approval from the most prestigious marketing institute in the UK. It is a sign of quality and reflection on the standard of teaching and the level of students of students we attract from undergraduate to postgraduate level.”

The diploma level is designed for candidates who have been awarded the Professional Certificate in Marketing or hold a degree or equivalent. Candidates who do not have the above qualifications, but are at a supervisory level and can demonstrate appropriate experience in marketing or sales can also join at this level.

Wrexham Glyndwr University has been running the course as well as a CIM certificate (Level 4) for 10 years with students from a wide variety of business backgrounds such as telecommunications, agriculture, leisure and tourism, property, manufacturing to financial services.

Teresa Foulkes, associate director of learning for the CIM Awarding Body, said: “Thank you for your hard work and commitment. Please pass our congratulations to all your tutors, staff and students.”
