New Special Sergeant On Wrexham Rural Policing Team
Wrexham rural policing team have a new Special Sergeant on the team, with a call for anyone interested in becoming a ‘special’ to get in touch.
Sgt Mike Roberts has been appointed to work with Wrexham Rural police officers who cover all areas in the county apart from Wrexham Town, which is covered by a separate team.
The Special Constabulary is made up of volunteers with officers holding full police powers. They work alongside regular officers of all ranks and departments.
Wrexham Rural Inspector Jackie Downes said; “I am delighted to have Sgt Mike Roberts on the team. Specials have a really positive impact on policing the Wrexham rural area and I wish Mike every success in his role and look forward to working together.
Sgt Mike Roberts said; “I look forward in continuing to build on the positive working relationship between special constables, regular police officers and other colleagues. Together we will serve our community and endeavour to tackle local policing issues effectively and efficiently.”
Special Inspector, Claire Humphreys said; “We are currently recruiting specials to the force. Being a Special Officer is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into policing in North Wales. It enables you to learn new skills and develop existing ones.
“Specials come from all sorts of backgrounds and occupations and some companies offer time out of work through employer supported policing.
“We are working closely with our regular colleges in Wrexham Rural to tackle crime and helping to make our community a safer place.
