The North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) team were called to Llangollen in the early hours of this morning to “walkers in difficulty”.

The volunteer organisation were alerted to the incident by North Wales Police and helped direct officers to the site.

NEWSAR say the incident site was not completely clear and in cooperation with the casualty group, used phone technology to get a precise location.

A statement released by the organisation, adds: “We were then able to direct police officers to the site while we started team members moving to assist.

“Shortly afterwards the group was located by police officers and assisted to safety and we stood down.”
