Police Car Left With ‘Scorch’ Damage to Roof Following Incident in Wrexham
A police car has been left with slight ‘scorch’ damage to its roof following an incident in Gwersyllt last night.
At 9.30pm last night, Thursday 27th August 2015 a Police car was damaged whilst officers were attending an unconnected incident in First Avenue, Gwersyllt near Wrexham.
Locally there had been reports on Twitter that a police car had been set on fire – however one nearby resident told Wrexham.com that it appeared only the fire was contained to the roof
North Wales Police have today confirmed that a white Ford Focus police ‘liveried’ response vehicle sustained slight ‘scorch’ damage to its roof.
Local Inspector Darren Whibberley said “A criminal investigation is underway and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time who saw any suspicious persons or activity, or indeed knows anything about this incident to contact Police immediately. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time and fortunately no one was injured”
If you have any information about the fire North Wales Police can be contacted on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote reference S130944.
