Morrisons have put in a planning application to create room for an outdoor garden centre at their flagship Wrexham store.

If approved the Ruthin Road branch which opened in November would see the erection of a steel mesh timber framed fencing to part of the existing store canopy.

Morrisons is looking to roll out garden centres at over 100 of its stores to increase their range of products and services.

Their plans have been met with opposition in some parts of the country, including Nelson in Lancashire where planning was turned down for a garden centre despite the fact they had already opened it!

The proposals also include plans for promotional signage for the new garden centre as pictured above.

They had run the rule over over The Garden Centre Group earlier this year, however the group was eventually sold to private equity group Terra Firma at the end of March in a deal worth £276m.
