A brand new three day extravaganza celebrating St David’s Day and Welsh culture will arrive in Wrexham town centre in March.

Created by the organisers of the annual FOCUS Wales Music Festival Wrexham Council – the three day ‘Wrexham St David’s Weekend / Penwythnos Dewi Sant Wrecsam’ will take over the High Street in the heart of the town centre between Friday 3 and Sunday 5 March 2017.

Over the three days the event will celebrate Welsh culture and honour the national patron saint with a fun packed and high profile outdoor show in the heart of Wrexham town centre.

The ‘Wrexham St David’s Day Weekend’ will feature the best up and coming bands, performing in both Welsh and English from around Wales, including Kizzy Crawford, Calfari, CaStLeS, The Big Beat, Heal The Last Stand and many more; as well as choirs, bespoke food stalls selling high quality Welsh fayre and entertainment for all the family.

The free to attend event will close down Wrexham’s High Street to vehicles from 7.30am on the Friday until 12am Monday morning, creating a street party atmosphere throughout the weekend.

Speaking on behalf of Wrexham’s Tourism Partnership, Destination Manager Joe Bickerton said: “Wrexham is fast becoming the place for live music in Wales and the Council’s events team were keen to team up with FOCUS Wales when the opportunity to stage this event came up.

“Utilising the High Street for three days provides us with another great opportunity to bring this new event into town, attract more visitors and celebrate the best of our local Welsh culture through a brilliant three day programme.”

‘Wrexham St. David’s Weekend’ will take place on Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday the 5th of March 2017.  Alcohol will not be made available as part of the event itself. Local businesses including pubs and bars will be open as usual throughout the weekend.
