Although just outside of Wrexham, a number of people have contacted us this morning regarding police presence in Kinnerton and Hope.

Jamie told us that Kinnerton Road had been closed off and that the police helicopter had been spotted above the area. Another person added that he had seen police in the area at 5:15am when he was leaving for work.

A high police presence and ambulances were spotted in the area. We popped down to Higher Kinnerton just after midday, where a number of police cars were parked at a property at the south end of the long straight out of Kinnerton towards Hope.

Buses through Kinnerton were also been diverted, with GHA Coaches posting on Facebook: “As a result of an on-going police incident in Kinnerton Service DB1 is currently subject to diversion in the Kinnerton area.”

Arriva Trains Wales have also tweeted to say that the 13:30 Wrexham Central to Bidston, 14:30 Bidston to Wrexham Central and 14:32 Bidston to Wrexham Central lines will be terminated at Shotton High Level due to ’emergency services dealing with an incident.’

Chief Inspector Dave Owens said: “The public may be aware of a police presence in Kinnerton Road, Kinnerton. We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident and will provide more information when we are in a position to do so.”

Armed police were seen on the streets of Chester city centre at a similar time, with various rumours circulating as to why. Cheshire Police have since said just before 1pm “Intelligence received investigated and armed deployment now stood down. Thanks to all.”

UPDATE 1:19pm: North Wales Police have said they believe a firearm was discharged in the early hours of this morning in the vicinity of Kinnerton Road, Kinnerton
