Wrexham MP Ian Lucas has welcomed the launch of a North Wales Rugby League wheelchair team.

The North Wales Crusaders’ wheelchair rugby team was launched recently and has its base at Deeside Leisure Centre.

Mr Lucas, who has helped to promote rugby in the Wrexham area and worked alongside league organisations recently, welcomed the team’s establishment as “another string to the bow” of North Wales Rugby League, and urged people to attend their sessions, held at the leisure centre every Friday between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

He said: “The new team is yet another string to the bow for rugby in North Wales and shows the developing interest here in North Wales.

“The Friday sessions are open to all to turn up – whether people have a disability or not. It would be great to see the team develop further and I would urge anyone who is interested to check them out.”
