Firefighters were called to the blaze shortly after 10pm this evening, with a crew from Oswestry confirming they are assisting North Wales Fire and Rescue Service with a ‘property fire’, with other stations noting ‘there are multiple appliances and crews at the scene’.
It is believed two crews are attending from Flintshire/Chester direction as well as more local crews.
North Wales Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service have also been sighted at the incident. As of midnight there is no official local update available.
‘Thick acrid smoke’ was reported by residents nearby, with praise for firefighters: “It was scary at first but the Firefighters don’t waste any time controlling it, they are brilliant, fair play.”
Local MP Susan Elan Jones is aware of the incident and has said she will be following up with Wrexham Council and Kronospan about the fire.
Wrexham Council Lead Member Terry Evans has said: “Major fire at kronospan massive pollution”, while publishing the below images of the fire:
Two fire crews were heard heading towards Wrexham on the A55 just after 10pm, with this believed to be the only fire in the Wrexham area this evening.
