A trio of keen cyclists from Wrexham recently braved the elements in a gruelling bike ride to raise more than £1000 for the British Heart Foundation.

Robert Williams, a partner with GHP Legal, was joined on the 75 mile round trip by Barclays Bank business manager, Paul Ffoulkes and Medwyn Edwards from Hadlow Edwards.

Travelling between GHP Legal’s four offices in Wrexham, Oswestry, Chirk and Llangollen, the group finished off with a climb over the Horseshoe pass before returning to Wrexham.

Speaking after the event, Robert said: “The weather on our chosen day of 26th October proved to be the worst and the first day of winter. But we raised more than £1000 for British Heart Foundation, so it was all worthwhile.

“We coped with rain, wind, hail and the Horseshoe Pass, but it was the biting wind as we went over the top at Ponderosa that almost did for us and our damp fingers and toes started to freeze on the long descent to the warmer low-lying area at the finish.

“At times it was only thoughts of dear friends and colleagues who lost their lives in the past year, and who were the reason we undertook the ride, that kept us going.

“Fortunately all the GHP Legal offices provided perfectly timed refreshments and we managed to finish the ride on target, at 4.45pm. Now we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported us”
