Ken Skates cuts ribbon as Wrexham’s new Enterprise Hub formally opens
Wrexham’s new ‘Enterprise Hub’ has been officially opened by the Cabinet Secretary for Economy & Transport, and Clwyd South AM Ken Skates.
The hub, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, was announced by Mr Skates last year, and aims to support 100 new businesses and create 260 jobs in its first two years.
The two-year pilot will also focus on securing at least £1m of private investment for its members as well as aiming to build a community of entrepreneurs that will boost the local economy.
The Wrexham Enterprise Hub will be delivered by ‘Town Square Spaces’ – an enterprise started by Welsh ICE founders Gareth Jones & Mandy Weston – for Business Wales.
The Hub is located in the old Iceland / Pebbles chip shop, with the two old buildings knocked through into one – with a complete almost unbelievable refurb taking place.
You can see the ‘ribbon cut’ moment below, along with the short speech from Ken Skates on what he called a ‘special day for Wrexham’:
Below is a video from a few weeks ago at a ‘soft launch’ event, where founder Gareth Jones speaks about the Hub, along with Carl Turner who is the local Community Manager.
One final video is from a visit earlier this year when things were still a building site, and part-chippy…
You can get more information on getting involved by getting in touch via the Hub’s page on the Business Wales website here.
