A number of businesses on the Wrexham Industrial Estate were hit with internet issues today after a vehicle crashed into a nearby BT cabinet leaving it “badly damaged”.

Earlier today there were reports from some workers in the area that they were experiencing internet issues as a result of the damage.

A spokesperson for Openreach confirmed to Wrexham.com that the roadside cabinet, located on Clywedog Road South, has been “badly damaged” and that the fault had been made a priority.

The spokesperson said: “Our roadside cabinet on Clywedog Road South has been badly damaged following a road traffic incident.”

“Our engineers have already been onsite to investigate but due to the severity of the damage it appears as if we will need to completely replace the cabinet with a new one.

“Unfortunately we’re unable to give a specific timeframe as to when we’ll be able to restore service due to the amount of work that’s required to replace the cabinet and potentially re-connect the fibre.

“We would like to confirm however that this fault has been made a priority and we will aim to complete the work as quickly as possible.”
