King Street Coffee Company held a sold out Monday night event with viral spoken word artist and Amazon best seller Neil Hilborn from Minnesota, USA.

The event sold out in a matter of hours to 150 capacity before being upgraded to a further handful of tickets squeezed in – which were snapped up instantly with waiting lists in place.

Neil Hilborn became a youtube sensation last year when a performance of his poem, “OCD” went viral, the video has currently been viewed over 73,000,000 times. His book “Our Numbered Days” became an Amazon bestseller after selling over 75,000 copies. His poems often detail personal experiences and battles with mental illness or other disorders.

Support on the evening was from “The Voicebox Collective”, a group of local poets and spoken word artists that are regular performers at the monthly Voicebox event that is also held at UnDegUn – the next being Monday 14th.

Event organiser and Co-owner of King Street Coffee Company Andy Gallanders said “It has been an incredible night. Neil’s performance was outstandingly brilliant. Wrexham’s own The Voicebox Collective stood shoulder to shoulder with this world class act.

“We’d like to thank everyone at UnDegUn and to Oriel Wrexham and WCBC for allowing us to borrow chairs for the evening. We are now busy trying to book more events but the bar has been set really high with Neil…but we’ll give it a good try!”

Neil now goes on a 32 date UK tour which includes a residency at this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Thanks to Brent Jones for the pictures from the evening.
