Hunt for light blue VW Golf involved in serious ‘hit and run’ leaving cyclist with serious injuries on Llan y Pwll link road

Police are appealing for witness following a serious road traffic collision between a car and a pedal cyclist on the A5156 Llan y Pwll link road in Wrexham.

The collision happened between 7.30pm and 8pm this evening.

The car, believed to be a light blue VW Golf, did not stop at the scene and remains outstanding. The cyclist has been taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital having suffered serious injuries.

PC Rich Priamo of the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information that they think may assist us in tracing the light blue VW Golf, or anyone who was travelling along the road and may have dashcam footage of the car, or the cyclist who was wearing black coloured cycling clothes.”

The Llan y Pwll link road is closed tonight after an RTC.

Police have said the closure is in place from the Gresford roundabout, through common wood roundabout and up Borras road.

They add “Please avoid the area if possible. Thank you for your patience.”
