HMP Berwyn’s new Governor announced
The BBC are reporting Wrexham’s prison has a new governor, Nick Leader.
Mr Leader has spent 25 years in the prison service and eight with Sodexo.
In his own words he describes his career so far, “Worked in the Prison Service since 1985. I was Prison Governor of HMP & YOI Reading, HMP Long Lartin, HMP Pentonville and HMP Whitemoor.
“I joined Sodexo Justice Services as Director of HMP & YOI Peterborough in 2010. We opened up a new extension whilst I was Director. I spent just over 5 years at Peterborough before taking on a CEO role looking after three Community Rehabilitation Company roles going through a transformation process (setting up a regional structure).
“In 2017 I was pleased to have been given the opportunity by Sodexo to take forward a role as Director of HMP Northumberland. The prison is a Category C Working/Resettlement prison that holds up to 1348 prisoners.”
The BBC are the only media with the information, with no detail appearing on the Ministry of Justice online. We have asked the MOJ for details and will update as and when they become available.
