Earlier this afternoon we were tweeted details of a “Truck broken down just after Gresford junction towards Chester blocking half of lane one, no police as yet” by Nick Bell.

The HGV in question made contact with the crash barriers – which has sparked emergency roadworks to repair them. We are told that the lorry driver who was from Wakefield said his HGV “locked up” due to brake issues, skidded 50-60 metres and hit the barrier. Apparently he thought he would go through the barrier and onto sliproad below.

The Council have said “Due to an incident earlier today on A483 Gresford Bypass, where a HGV has collided with, and damaged, a length of safety barrier between the northbound off and on slip-roads at the Gresford interchange (Junction 6), roadworks will be placed in order to facilitate the necessary repair works.”

“It is anticipated that these works will be completed within the next 72hours.”
