Foreign Secretary Declares Clwyd South Conservative Win
The Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has today he was ‘delighted’ to see the Conservatives win Clwyd South, a move that the Labour winner has said presents a ‘slight factual problem’.
In a widely promoted column in The Sun (no link) the Foreign Secretary says:
Now Labour MP Susan Elan Jones beat Conservative candidate Simon Baynes in the recent election by 4,356 votes – gaining 19,002 votes overall.
The MP fired back on twitter late this evening to say: “Memo to @BorisJohnson – you may be “delighted” to see the Tories have won Clwyd South: slight factual problem, you didn’t #BorisJohnson ”
Adding in a later tweet, “… I’m not letting @BorisJohnson get away with the ‘tripe’ about Tories winning Clwyd South!”
Boris Johnson stood in the seat in 1997 and lost by 13,810 votes to Labour’s Martyn Jones.
